Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts is once again partnering with the New York Blood Center to host their 11th annual community blood drive, providing an opportunity for locals to give back and potentially save lives.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, August 25th, aims to help alleviate the ongoing blood shortage that has only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Empire City Casino, located in Yonkers, is hoping to surpass their previous records and collect even more donations this year.
“We are thrilled to be able to host our 11th annual blood drive with our partners at the New York Blood Center,” said Ed Domingo, Empire City Casino’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “It’s incredibly important to give back to the community, and donating blood is one of the most impactful ways to do so.”
The blood drive will be held at Empire City Casino’s Entertainment Lounge from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. Donors will receive a complimentary buffet voucher as a thank you for their donation. In addition, all donors will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win various prizes, including concert tickets and other exciting experiences at the casino.
“We are grateful to Empire City Casino for their continued support and commitment to hosting this annual blood drive,” said Andrea Cefarelli, Regional Donor Recruitment Director at the New York Blood Center. “The donations collected at this event will go a long way in helping patients in need across the New York area.”
Prior to the event, donors are encouraged to make an appointment online at the New York Blood Center’s website to ensure a smooth and efficient donation process. Walk-ins will also be accepted, but appointments are highly recommended to help manage the flow of donors throughout the day.
Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts has been a staple in the Yonkers community for years, providing not only entertainment and dining options but also opportunities to give back through events like the annual blood drive.
