A 35-year-old father from Ohio was arrested on Friday night after allegedly leaving his 10-month-old child alone in a car while he was inside a casino. The incident occurred at the Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, located in Dayton, Ohio.
According to police reports, the father, whose name has not been disclosed, left his infant child in the car for at least an hour while he was inside the casino gambling. The temperature outside was in the mid-80s, raising concerns about the child’s safety and well-being.
Authorities were alerted to the situation when a concerned passerby noticed the child alone in the car and immediately called 911. Responding officers arrived at the scene and quickly located the father inside the casino. He was detained and taken into custody on charges of child endangerment.
The child was unharmed and was taken into protective custody by child services. It is unclear at this time what further actions will be taken in regards to the child’s welfare.
This incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with many expressing shock and disbelief that a parent would leave their young child unattended in a car while engaging in such risky behavior.
One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “I can’t believe someone would do something like this. It’s irresponsible and dangerous.”
The father is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail and is expected to appear in court later this week. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway released a statement saying, “We take the safety and well-being of our guests very seriously and do not condone such actions. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.”
As the community grapples with this alarming incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible parenting and the potential consequences of neglecting the welfare of one’s child.
