The Iowa women’s basketball team took a break from the court on Friday to try their luck at the Riverside Casino in Riverside, Iowa. The players, coming off a strong season, decided to unwind and have some fun together after a week of intense practice and games.
The team, led by head coach Lisa Bluder, arrived at the casino in the afternoon and were greeted by fans who were excited to see their favorite athletes up close and personal. The players were in good spirits, laughing and joking as they made their way through the casino floor.
Senior guard Kathleen Doyle, a standout player for the Hawkeyes, was seen trying her hand at blackjack while junior forward Monika Czinano hit the slot machines. The players seemed to be enjoying themselves, with many of them cheering each other on as they played their favorite games.
“It’s nice to take a break from basketball and just have some fun with my teammates,” said Doyle. “We work hard on the court, so it’s nice to have a little bit of downtime together.”
The team also took the opportunity to interact with fans, signing autographs and taking photos with those who approached them. The players were gracious and friendly, taking the time to chat with fans and thank them for their support.
“We have the best fans in the country,” said Bluder. “Iowa basketball wouldn’t be where it is today without their constant support. It means a lot to us to be able to give back and interact with them like this.”
As the evening wore on, the players eventually made their way to the casino’s buffet for a team dinner. They laughed and joked as they enjoyed their meal together, a bonding experience that brought them even closer as a team.
Overall, the trip to Riverside Casino was a success for the Iowa women’s basketball team. It provided an opportunity for the players to relax and unwind, while also giving them the chance to connect with their fans. With the season in full swing, moments like these are important for team morale and camaraderie.
As the players left the casino, they did so with smiles on their faces and a renewed sense of energy. They were ready to hit the court once again, fueled by their time spent together off the court. And who knows, maybe their visit to Riverside Casino brought them a little extra luck for their upcoming games.
