In a bold move that could potentially change the landscape of the Milwaukee gaming and hospitality industry, Potawatomi Hotel and Casino announced plans for a $190 million expansion project dubbed “Project First Strike.” The project, which is set to break ground in the coming months, aims to solidify Potawatomi’s position as a premier gaming destination in the Midwest.
The centerpiece of the project will be a new hotel tower that will add approximately 200 luxury rooms to the existing 500-room hotel. The tower will also feature additional conference and event space, as well as a rooftop bar and restaurant offering stunning views of the city skyline. In addition, the expansion will include a new gaming floor with more slot machines and table games, as well as a high-limit gaming area for VIP guests.
“We are thrilled to announce Project First Strike, which represents a significant investment in the future of Potawatomi Hotel and Casino,” said Rodney Ferguson, CEO and General Manager of Potawatomi Hotel and Casino. “This expansion will allow us to better serve our guests and continue to provide the exceptional entertainment experience that they have come to expect from us.”
The project is expected to create hundreds of construction jobs and will also result in the hiring of additional staff once the expansion is completed. In addition, the expanded hotel and casino are projected to attract more visitors to the Milwaukee area, boosting the local economy and supporting other businesses in the community.
Potawatomi Hotel and Casino has been a staple of the Milwaukee gaming scene for over 25 years, offering a wide range of entertainment options including gaming, live music, and dining. The property is owned and operated by the Forest County Potawatomi Community, a Native American tribe with a strong commitment to community development and economic growth.
With Project First Strike, Potawatomi Hotel and Casino is positioning itself for continued success in a competitive market. The expansion is expected to be completed within the next two years, with the new hotel tower and gaming floor set to open to the public in early 2023. As construction gets underway, the excitement is palpable among both Potawatomi employees and the broader Milwaukee community, who are eager to see the hotel and casino’s evolution into a world-class destination.
