In an effort to combat illegal gambling activities in the state, Colorado has launched a new prevention campaign aimed at raising awareness and educating the public about the risks and consequences of participating in illegal gambling.
The campaign, which was unveiled by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming, is part of a larger initiative to crack down on unauthorized gambling operations and protect consumers from falling victim to illegal gambling activities. The campaign includes a series of advertisements and public service announcements highlighting the dangers of illegal gambling and urging individuals to report any suspicious or illegal gambling activities to the authorities.
According to a recent press release from the Division of Gaming, illegal gambling poses a serious threat to public safety and can have a negative impact on communities and individuals. Illegal gambling operations often operate outside the law and can be associated with other criminal activities, such as money laundering, fraud, and organized crime. In addition, individuals who participate in illegal gambling activities are at risk of losing their money, personal information, and even their physical safety.
“Illegal gambling is not only a violation of the law, but it can also have serious consequences for individuals and communities,” said John McKinney, Director of the Division of Gaming. “Our new prevention campaign aims to raise awareness about the risks of illegal gambling and encourage individuals to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.”
In addition to the public awareness campaign, the Division of Gaming is also working closely with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to investigate and prosecute illegal gambling operations in the state. The Division has already launched several successful enforcement actions against illegal gambling operators in recent months, resulting in the seizure of illegal gambling devices and the arrest of individuals involved in illegal gambling activities.
The new prevention campaign is part of a broader effort by the Division of Gaming to promote responsible gambling and protect consumers from the dangers of illegal gambling. The Division also offers resources and support for individuals who may be struggling with problem gambling and encourages responsible gaming practices.
“We want to remind the public that gambling should be fun and entertainment, but it should never put your safety or financial well-being at risk,” said McKinney. “By raising awareness about the risks of illegal gambling and encouraging individuals to report suspicious activities, we can work together to prevent illegal gambling and protect our communities.”
The illegal gambling prevention campaign is now live across Colorado, with advertisements and public service announcements airing on radio, television, and social media platforms. Individuals who suspect illegal gambling activities are encouraged to contact the Division of Gaming’s hotline at 1-800-ITS-ILLEGAL or visit their website at www.coloradodivisionofgaming.gov for more information.
