In an effort to crack down on illegal gambling activities in the state, Colorado has launched a new prevention campaign aimed at educating residents about the dangers and consequences of participating in illegal gambling.
The campaign, titled “Play it Safe, Colorado,” was unveiled by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming and the Colorado Lottery in collaboration with the Colorado Gaming Association. The initiative is part of a broader effort to address the problem of illegal gambling, which has become increasingly prevalent in recent years.
According to officials, illegal gambling poses a number of risks to individuals and communities, including potential financial losses, legal troubles, and negative impacts on public safety and the integrity of gaming operations. The “Play it Safe, Colorado” campaign is designed to raise awareness about these risks and encourage residents to report any suspicious or illegal gambling activities to the appropriate authorities.
As part of the campaign, the Colorado Department of Revenue has launched a new website, PlayItSafeColorado.com, which provides information on the signs of illegal gambling, how to report suspicious activity, and resources for individuals who may be struggling with gambling addiction. In addition, the campaign includes a series of public service announcements, social media posts, and other outreach efforts to spread awareness of the issue.
“We are committed to ensuring the integrity of gaming in Colorado and protecting our residents from the potential harms of illegal gambling,” said Dan Hartman, Director of the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming. “We encourage all Coloradans to play it safe and report any illegal gambling activities they may encounter.”
The launch of the “Play it Safe, Colorado” campaign comes on the heels of a recent crackdown on illegal gambling operations in the state. In October, authorities announced the arrest of several individuals in connection with an illegal sports betting ring that had been operating in the Denver area. The bust was the result of a months-long investigation by law enforcement agencies and gaming regulators.
Going forward, officials say they will continue to work to identify and shut down illegal gambling operations in Colorado, with a particular focus on unlicensed sports betting, card games, and other forms of gambling that are not authorized by the state. They are also calling on residents to help in the fight against illegal gambling by reporting any suspicious activity they may encounter.
“We all have a role to play in keeping our communities safe and free from the harms of illegal gambling,” said Hartman. “By working together, we can ensure that Colorado remains a great place to live, work, and play for all residents.”
The “Play it Safe, Colorado” campaign is set to run throughout the year, with ongoing outreach efforts and education initiatives planned for the coming months. Residents who have information about illegal gambling activities are encouraged to contact the Colorado Division of Gaming or local law enforcement authorities.
