WICHITA, Kan. (KSN-TV) – Chaos erupted at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane on Friday night as patrons and employees were evacuated due to a bomb threat.
According to witnesses, the casino was packed with people enjoying their Friday night gambling when suddenly alarms blared and security personnel began instructing everyone to leave the premises immediately. Panic and confusion quickly spread as people rushed to exit the building.
“I was at the slot machines when all of a sudden, we heard the alarms and guards telling us to evacuate. It was a scary moment,” said one witness who wished to remain anonymous.
Law enforcement officials arrived on the scene shortly after the evacuation began, setting up a perimeter around the casino and conducting a thorough search of the premises. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Mulvane Police Department all responded to the scene to assist with the situation.
After several hours of searching, no bomb was found, and authorities gave the all-clear for patrons and employees to re-enter the casino. The Mulvane Police Department later confirmed that the bomb threat was a false alarm.
“We take all threats seriously and responded accordingly to ensure the safety of everyone at the Kansas Star Casino. We appreciate the cooperation of everyone involved in the evacuation and subsequent search,” said Mulvane Police Chief Todd Klutz.
The incident left many shaken but relieved that no harm came to anyone. Some patrons expressed frustration over the disruption to their evening plans, but ultimately understood the importance of taking all threats seriously.
“I was scared at first, but I’m glad they took the necessary precautions to make sure we were all safe. It’s better to be safe than sorry,” said another witness.
The Kansas Star Casino has since reopened and resumed normal operations. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the source of the false bomb threat.
