Mulvane, Kansas – Police authorities in Mulvane were called to the Kansas Star Casino on Monday evening after reports of a bomb threat led to the evacuation of the premises. After thorough investigation, nothing suspicious was found and the roads were reopened for traffic.
The incident began at approximately 7:30 PM when casino employees discovered a threatening note in the bathroom, prompting them to alert authorities. Mulvane police immediately responded to the scene and, as a precautionary measure, evacuated the casino and closed off surrounding roads.
“It was a very tense situation at first, with everyone being ushered out of the building and not knowing what was going on,” said one eyewitness who was present at the time of the evacuation. “But the police handled everything very professionally and kept everyone calm.”
Police officers conducted a thorough sweep of the casino and its premises, utilizing bomb-sniffing dogs and specialized equipment to search for any potential threats. After several hours of meticulous investigation, authorities determined that the threat was a false alarm and that there was no danger to the public.
“We take all threats very seriously and were not taking any chances with the safety of the public,” said Mulvane Police Chief Derrick Layman. “I am proud of the swift and efficient response of our officers, as well as the cooperation of the casino staff and patrons during this incident.”
Following the all-clear from authorities, the casino was reopened and operations resumed as usual. The roads surrounding the casino were also reopened, allowing traffic to flow freely once again.
Despite the false alarm, the incident served as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of the community. Mulvane police thanked the public for their patience and understanding during the evacuation and investigation.
“We are grateful for the quick response and professionalism displayed by our officers, as well as the support of the community during this incident,” Chief Layman added. “We will continue to work diligently to keep Mulvane safe and secure for all residents and visitors.”
