According to reports, casino employees received a threatening phone call around 6:30 p.m. from an unidentified individual claiming that a bomb had been placed inside the casino. The caller demanded a ransom in exchange for not detonating the explosive device.
Upon receiving the threat, casino management immediately contacted the Mulvane Police Department, who in turn coordinated with the Kansas Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies to assess the situation and ensure the safety of patrons and staff.
In a statement released to the press, Mulvane Police Chief Brian Paulsen urged the public to remain calm and cooperative while authorities conducted a thorough sweep of the premises. “The safety and security of our community is our top priority, and we are taking every precaution necessary to ensure the well-being of everyone involved,” Chief Paulsen stated.
As a precautionary measure, the casino was promptly evacuated, and bomb squads were dispatched to conduct a comprehensive search of the building and surrounding areas. K-9 units were also deployed to assist in the search for any potential explosive devices.
Despite the tense and potentially dangerous situation, authorities were able to quickly locate and neutralize the threat, determining it to be a false alarm. Following the all-clear signal, patrons and employees were allowed to re-enter the casino and resume their activities.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the Mulvane Police Department or the Kansas Highway Patrol.
In light of this alarming incident, Chief Paulsen emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities. “We cannot afford to take threats of this nature lightly. It is imperative that we all work together to ensure the safety and security of our community,” he said.
The Mulvane Police Department is grateful for the swift and effective response from all involved agencies, as well as the understanding and cooperation of the casino patrons and staff throughout the ordeal.
