Noel’s Weekend Winners: Grass is Greener Saturday for 3-Year-Old Fillies
The grass was definitely greener this past Saturday as Noel’s Weekend Winners saw a thrilling lineup of 3-year-old fillies competing in turf races across the country. With contenders from top stables and promising up-and-comers alike, it was a day of intense competition and standout performances that had racing fans on the edge of their seats.
One of the most highly anticipated races of the day was the Grade III Lake George Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. The stakes were high as a field of eight talented fillies took to the turf for this $150,000, 1 1/16-mile race. Leading the pack was the Chad Brown-trained Pizzazz, who had already proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in previous starts.
As the gates opened, Pizzazz wasted no time asserting her dominance, settling into a comfortable rhythm at the front of the pack. But she faced stiff competition from the likes of Altaf and Dreaming of You, who were hot on her heels every step of the way. The trio battled fiercely down the stretch, with Pizzazz ultimately holding on for a narrow victory by a neck over Altaf, with Dreaming of You rounding out the top three.
In the Grade III San Clemente Stakes at Del Mar, the story was much the same as a competitive field of 11 fillies vied for the $150,000 purse. The Peter Miller-trained Jmmy’s a Runner was the favorite heading into the race, but she faced challenges from the likes of Slipstream and Park Avenue, who were looking to make a statement of their own.
Jmmy’s a Runner got off to a strong start, quickly taking command of the field and setting a swift pace. Slipstream and Park Avenue gave chase, but they were no match for the front-running favorite, who powered home to victory by 2 ½ lengths. Slipstream ultimately settled for second, while Park Avenue had to settle for third.
Rounding out the day’s action was the Wild Applause Stakes at Belmont Park, where a field of seven fillies squared off for the $100,000 purse. The Christophe Clement-trained La Feve was the odds-on favorite, and she did not disappoint, showcasing her speed and stamina as she surged to an impressive victory. She was followed closely by Devious Charm and Bubble Rock, who finished second and third, respectively.
Overall, it was a day of thrilling turf racing for 3-year-old fillies, with standout performances and nail-biting finishes that kept fans on the edge of their seats. As the summer racing season continues to heat up, Noel’s Weekend Winners will be there to bring you all the latest action and updates from the world of horse racing.
