The Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is getting ready to host its second annual Indigenous Fashion Show weekend, featuring renowned Native American actor and comedian Tatanka Means. The event, which will take place from September 20th to September 22nd, will showcase the vibrant and diverse fashion and culture of Indigenous peoples from across North America.
Tatanka Means, a member of the Oglala Lakota, Omaha, and Navajo tribes, is no stranger to the world of fashion and entertainment. As a talented actor and comedian, he has graced the big screen in films such as “Tiger Eyes” and “The Host,” as well as television shows like “The Night Shift” and “Into the West.” Means is also known for his unique sense of style, often incorporating traditional Indigenous designs and motifs into his wardrobe.
The Indigenous Fashion Show weekend will kick off on Friday, September 20th with a special welcome reception featuring music, dancing, and traditional Indigenous cuisine. The highlight of the weekend will be the fashion show on Saturday, September 21st, where designers and artists from various Indigenous communities will showcase their latest creations on the runway. From intricate beadwork and intricate embroidery to bold prints and striking silhouettes, the fashion show promises to be a feast for the eyes.
In addition to the fashion show, attendees can also look forward to a series of workshops, panel discussions, and demonstrations exploring the intersection of fashion, culture, and identity. From learning about the history and significance of traditional Indigenous garments to discussing the challenges and opportunities facing Indigenous designers in the fashion industry, the weekend promises to be a thought-provoking and enriching experience for all.
“We are thrilled to be hosting our second annual Indigenous Fashion Show weekend,” said Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino spokesperson, Sarah Thompson. “This event is not only a celebration of Indigenous fashion and culture, but also a platform for Indigenous designers and artists to showcase their talent and inspire future generations.”
