TESUQUE PUEBLO, N.M. (KRQE) – The Tesuque Casino is gearing up to host the third annual World Posole Cooking Championship on October 15th, showcasing the best posole recipes from around the globe.
Posole, a traditional Mexican stew made with hominy, chile, and meat, has been a staple in New Mexican cuisine for centuries. The Championship will feature chefs and cooks from all over the world competing for the title of World Posole Champion.
“We are thrilled to host the World Posole Cooking Championship for the third year in a row,” said Sarah Evans, Marketing Director at Tesuque Casino. “Posole is such a beloved dish in New Mexico, and we are excited to see all of the creative and delicious recipes that our competitors bring to the table.”
The Championship will consist of two categories: Traditional Posole and Creative Posole. In the Traditional Posole category, chefs will be judged on the authenticity of their recipe, while the Creative Posole category allows for more innovative and unique takes on the classic dish.
Judges for the event will include local chefs, food critics, and foodies, who will taste and evaluate each posole entry based on flavor, presentation, and overall creativity.
In addition to the cooking competition, the World Posole Cooking Championship will also feature live music, dancing, and a Posole Tasting Pavilion where attendees can sample different posole recipes from the competitors.
“We want to make this event a celebration of all things posole,” said Evans. “It’s a dish that brings people together and we are excited to share that sense of community with our guests.”
The World Posole Cooking Championship will take place on Saturday, October 15th at the Tesuque Casino, located just north of Santa Fe. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the door.
