Four masked gunmen robbed two men outside Rivers Casino early Thursday morning, in an attempt to steal a Jeep parked in the casino’s parking lot.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am when the victims, both in their mid-20s, were leaving the casino after a night of gambling. As they approached their Jeep, they were suddenly confronted by four men wearing ski masks and brandishing firearms.
According to witnesses, the gunmen demanded the victims hand over their wallets and keys to the Jeep. The victims complied, fearing for their lives. However, as the gunmen attempted to steal the vehicle, they were thwarted by the Jeep’s anti-theft feature, which required a key fob to start the engine.
Frustrated, the gunmen then fled the scene on foot, leaving the victims unharmed but shaken. Casino security quickly responded to the incident and notified local law enforcement.
Police arrived on the scene shortly after and began an investigation into the robbery. Surveillance footage from the casino’s parking lot is currently being reviewed in hopes of identifying the suspects.
“We are committed to the safety and security of all our patrons, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation,” said a spokesperson for Rivers Casino.
The incident has left casino-goers on edge, with many expressing concerns about their safety in the parking lot. “It’s scary to think something like this could happen just steps away from where we were having fun,” said one patron.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery to come forward. In the meantime, they are urging visitors to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to casino security.
As of now, the gunmen remain at large, and it is unclear if they have targeted other patrons at the casino. The victims have expressed gratitude for their safety but are understandably shaken by the ordeal.
This brazen robbery serves as a reminder of the dangers that can lurk even in seemingly safe environments. Police are working diligently to apprehend the suspects and ensure the safety of all visitors to Rivers Casino.
