In a daring and seemingly bizarre heist, a couple visiting a local casino in Las Vegas were targeted by thieves who made off with their casino winnings, leaving behind their untouched leftovers. According to police reports, the couple, who had just scored big at the blackjack tables, were dining at a popular restaurant inside the casino when they were approached by two individuals who seemed to be overly friendly.
The thieves struck up a conversation with the couple, who were celebrating their anniversary, and quickly gained their trust. The couple, whose identities have not been disclosed, were convinced to leave their table and follow the thieves to a more private area of the restaurant. It was there that the thieves revealed their true intentions, demanding the couple hand over their cash winnings.
The couple, who were caught off guard by the sudden turn of events, complied with the thieves’ demands, handing over their winnings which amounted to thousands of dollars. However, to the surprise of everyone involved, the thieves seemed uninterested in the couple’s personal belongings and instead made off with the leftovers from their dinner.
“It was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen,” said witness, who wished to remain anonymous. “They had a bag full of cash in their hands, but all they wanted was the half-eaten steak and mashed potatoes left on the table.”
Police are currently investigating the incident and are reviewing surveillance footage from the casino in hopes of identifying the suspects. In the meantime, the couple, who were left shaken by the ordeal, have vowed to not let the incident ruin their anniversary celebration.
“We may have lost our winnings, but at least we still have each other,” the couple said in a statement to local news outlets. “And we’ll never forget the thieves who preferred our leftovers over cold, hard cash.”
