Milpitas, California – A full house in Milpitas was busted by police for operating an illegal gambling operation, authorities say.
The Milpitas Police Department received a tip from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity at a local residence. Upon investigation, officers discovered a bustling underground gambling den inside the seemingly ordinary looking house.
“We were shocked to find out that this quiet suburban home was actually a hub for illegal gambling activities,” said Captain John Smith of the Milpitas Police Department. “There were multiple gaming tables set up, along with stacks of cash and gambling chips scattered everywhere.”
According to authorities, the operation was running an illegal poker game, as well as various other betting activities. The house was reportedly equipped with surveillance cameras and other security measures to prevent detection by law enforcement.
“We believe that this operation has been running for quite some time, catering to a select group of high-stakes gamblers who were willing to take the risk,” said Captain Smith.
Several individuals were arrested at the scene, including the alleged ringleader of the operation. The suspects are facing charges of illegal gambling, as well as possible drug-related offenses.
“We take illegal gambling very seriously in Milpitas, and we will not tolerate these types of activities in our community,” said Captain Smith. “We are committed to cracking down on any illegal operations that put our residents at risk.”
The investigation into the illegal gambling operation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Residents in the quiet neighborhood where the illegal gambling den was located expressed shock and disbelief at the news.
“I had no idea that something like this was happening in my own backyard,” said one neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s really scary to think about what was going on right next door.”
The bust of the full house in Milpitas serves as a reminder that illegal gambling operations can be found even in the most unsuspecting of places. Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
