Las Vegas, NV – Boyd Gaming Corp. reported a surge in revenue for the second quarter of 2021, fueled in large part by their online gambling operations. The company, which operates 29 casinos in 10 states, reported a 55% increase in net revenue compared to the same period last year.
The growth in online gambling revenue was particularly strong, with a 78% increase compared to the second quarter of 2020. As more states legalize online gambling, Boyd Gaming has been able to capitalize on this trend and expand their reach in the digital space.
“Online gambling has been a key driver of our revenue growth this quarter,” said Keith Smith, President and CEO of Boyd Gaming. “Our customers have embraced our online offerings, and we have seen significant growth in this segment of our business.”
In addition to the success of their online gambling operations, Boyd Gaming also reported strong performance in their brick-and-mortar casinos. Revenue from their land-based properties saw a 42% increase compared to the same period last year.
“We are pleased to see such strong performance across our entire portfolio of properties,” said Smith. “Our casinos have rebounded well from the challenges of the past year, and we are optimistic about the future of our business.”
Boyd Gaming’s stock price surged following the release of their second quarter earnings report, with shares up nearly 10% in after-hours trading. Analysts have praised the company’s strong revenue growth and their ability to adapt to the evolving landscape of the gambling industry.
“We are impressed with Boyd Gaming’s ability to leverage their online presence and drive significant revenue growth,” said Mark Johnson, an analyst with Morgan Stanley. “They are well positioned to capitalize on the continued expansion of online gambling in the United States.”
Looking ahead, Boyd Gaming is focused on further expanding their online gambling operations and continuing to drive growth in both their digital and brick-and-mortar casinos. With the continued legalization of online gambling in more states, the company is well positioned to see continued success in the years to come.
