A casino security guard was injured in an altercation with an unhoused man in Fresno on Friday night, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at the Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, located on Lucky Lane in Coarsegold. Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for assistance from casino security around 9:30 p.m.
According to officials, the security guard had approached the unhoused man, who was causing a disturbance inside the casino. The man became aggressive and attacked the security guard, resulting in a physical altercation.
During the scuffle, the security guard sustained injuries to his face and head. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
The unhoused man fled the scene before deputies arrived. He is described as a Caucasian male in his late 30s, wearing dirty clothing and appearing disheveled. Authorities are currently searching for him.
The casino remained open during the incident, with patrons continuing to play games and enjoy the amenities. However, the altercation has raised concerns about safety and security at the popular gambling establishment.
In a statement, Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino officials expressed their concern for the injured security guard and reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of guests and employees.
