Indonesia and Cambodia are coming together to combat the widespread issue of online gambling in their respective countries. The two nations have decided to form a joint task force to crack down on illegal online gambling operations that have been flourishing in recent years.
Indonesia has been facing a surge in online gambling activities, leading to a rise in addiction and social problems among its citizens. In response, the Indonesian government has been taking strict measures to tackle this issue, including blocking thousands of illegal gambling websites and launching multiple raids on underground gambling dens.
Cambodia, on the other hand, has become a hotspot for online gambling operators due to its lax regulations and lack of enforcement. The country has seen a rapid growth in the number of online gambling websites operating within its borders, leading to concerns about money laundering and other criminal activities.
In a joint statement, the two countries expressed their commitment to working together to eradicate online gambling and protect their citizens from the negative consequences of this illegal activity. The task force will focus on sharing intelligence, conducting joint investigations, and coordinating efforts to crack down on online gambling operators operating across borders.
Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Johnny G. Plate, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating online gambling. “Online gambling is a global issue that requires a united front to tackle. By working together with Cambodia, we can strengthen our efforts to eradicate this illegal activity and protect our citizens from harm,” he said.
Cambodian Minister of Interior, Sar Kheng, echoed similar sentiments, stating that collaboration with Indonesia is crucial in tackling the growing problem of online gambling. “We are committed to working closely with Indonesia to address this issue and prevent the spread of online gambling in our countries. By sharing resources and expertise, we can more effectively combat this illegal activity,” he added.
The joint task force is set to begin operations in the coming weeks, with both countries pledging to allocate additional resources to support their efforts. By joining forces, Indonesia and Cambodia hope to send a strong message to online gambling operators that their illegal activities will not be tolerated and that they will face severe consequences for violating the law.
