As the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues to roll on in Las Vegas, one of the most exciting events on the schedule, Event #7: $1,500 Dealer’s Choice (6-Handed), has wrapped up with a thrilling conclusion.
The event, which took place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, drew a field of 275 players from all over the world, each looking to showcase their skills in a variety of poker games. With the dealer choosing the game for each hand, players were required to be well-versed in a wide range of poker variants, including Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Seven-Card Stud, and more.
After three days of intense competition, it was Australian poker pro Shane “BigBlindBling” Black who emerged victorious, taking home the coveted WSOP gold bracelet and a first-place prize of $86,153. Black, known for his aggressive playing style and ability to adapt to any game, demonstrated his versatility throughout the event, outlasting a tough field of competitors to claim the top spot.
In the final hand of the tournament, Black found himself heads-up against American poker player Sarah “StraightFlushQueen” Johnson. With the dealer selecting Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo as the game for the final hand, Black and Johnson engaged in a tense battle, with the lead changing hands multiple times.
Ultimately, it was Black who prevailed, scooping the pot with a high hand and a low hand to secure the victory. Johnson, who put up a valiant fight, finished in second place, taking home a respectable payday of $50,386 for her efforts.
In his post-tournament interview, Black expressed his excitement at capturing his first WSOP bracelet, calling it a dream come true. “I’ve been grinding for years to achieve this milestone, and to finally have it in my hands is truly an incredible feeling,” he said.
With Event #7 now in the books, the WSOP action continues with a packed schedule of events still to come. Poker fans can look forward to more thrilling competition, big wins, and memorable moments as the world’s premier poker series unfolds in Las Vegas.
