Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers recently opened up about his suspension from the team following a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The 25-year-old, who was drafted by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, revealed that he has learned from his mistakes and is eager to make a fresh start.
“I did my time and I’m ready to move forward,” Rodgers said in a recent interview with Athlon Sports. “I made a mistake, and I accept responsibility for it. But I’ve learned from it and I’m committed to being the best player and teammate I can be.”
Rodgers was suspended for the first four games of the 2021 season after testing positive for a banned substance. He missed crucial playing time during the suspension, but he used the time off to reflect on his actions and focus on improving himself both on and off the field.
“I spent a lot of time working on myself during the suspension,” Rodgers said. “I worked on my mental health, my physical health, and my overall mindset. I made sure to stay in shape and stay ready for when I would be able to return to the team.”
Rodgers, who is known for his speed and agility on the field, is determined to prove himself to the Colts coaching staff and his teammates. He has been training hard during the offseason and is confident that he will be able to make a significant impact on the team when he returns to action.
“I’m more motivated than ever to show everyone what I can do on the field,” Rodgers said. “I know I let my team down with my suspension, but I’m ready to make it up to them and show them that I’m committed to being the best player I can be.”
Colts head coach Frank Reich has been impressed with Rodgers’ attitude and work ethic since his return to the team. He believes that Rodgers has the potential to be a key contributor to the Colts’ defense in the upcoming season.
“I have been really pleased with Isaiah since he returned from his suspension,” Reich said. “He has been working hard and staying focused on his goals. I believe he has the talent and the drive to make a significant impact on our team this season.”
As Rodgers prepares for the upcoming season, he is focused on putting the past behind him and moving forward with a positive attitude.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in the NFL, and I’m determined to make the most of it,” Rodgers said. “I’m ready to prove myself and show the world what I can do. I’m excited for the upcoming season and I can’t wait to get back on the field with my teammates.”
