The Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, Oklahoma is proud to present its newest and most vibrant exhibition to date – the Contemporary Choctaw Art Exhibit. This exclusive showcase features a diverse collection of artwork created by talented Choctaw artists, ranging from traditional pieces to modern interpretations of Choctaw culture.
The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, highlights the rich heritage and artistic talents of the Choctaw Nation. Visitors to the casino and resort will have the opportunity to view a variety of art forms, including paintings, sculptures, textiles, and pottery, all created by members of the Choctaw tribe.
One of the standout pieces in the exhibit is a stunning painting by renowned Choctaw artist, Stacy Agee. Titled “Spirit of the Choctaw,” the painting depicts a powerful image of a Choctaw warrior standing tall and proud, symbolizing the strength and resilience of the Choctaw people.
In addition to traditional artwork, the Contemporary Choctaw Art Exhibit also features several contemporary pieces that offer a fresh perspective on Choctaw culture. One such piece is a mixed-media sculpture by up-and-coming artist, Sarah Billman, which combines elements of traditional Choctaw craftsmanship with a modern twist.
The exhibit is part of Choctaw Casino & Resort’s ongoing commitment to supporting and promoting indigenous art and culture. By showcasing the talent and creativity of Choctaw artists, the casino and resort are helping to preserve and celebrate the unique heritage of the Choctaw Nation.
“We are thrilled to be able to showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our Choctaw artists,” said Chief Gary Batton of the Choctaw Nation. “Through this exhibit, we hope to honor our heritage and inspire future generations of Choctaw artists to continue telling their stories through their art.”
