Senator Joe Addabbo is on a mission to bring online casinos to the state of New York, but with each passing day, millions of dollars are being left on the table.
Currently, New Yorkers have limited options when it comes to online gambling. The state only allows for online sports betting through a limited number of providers, such as DraftKings and FanDuel. However, online casinos – which offer a variety of games such as slots, poker, blackjack, and roulette – are not yet legal in the state.
Senator Addabbo believes that legalizing online casinos in New York could bring in much-needed revenue for the state, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With brick-and-mortar casinos closed or operating at reduced capacity, online casinos could provide a much-needed boost to the state’s economy.
“I have been pushing for online casinos in New York for years now,” said Senator Addabbo. “It’s time for us to catch up with other states that have already legalized online gambling and are reaping the benefits.”
According to Addabbo, legalizing online casinos in New York could bring in an estimated $200 million in tax revenue annually. This revenue could be used to fund education, healthcare, infrastructure, and other essential services for New Yorkers.
Despite the potential financial benefits, there are still some obstacles to overcome before online casinos become a reality in New York. One major concern is opposition from tribal casinos, which fear that online casinos could cut into their profits.
However, Senator Addabbo remains optimistic and is working with stakeholders to address their concerns and find a solution that works for everyone.
“We need to think outside the box and find ways to generate revenue for the state without burdening taxpayers,” said Addabbo. “Online casinos are a win-win for everyone – they create jobs, boost tourism, and provide much-needed revenue for the state.”
As Senator Addabbo continues his quest to bring online casinos to New York, it remains to be seen whether the state will seize this opportunity to capitalize on a growing industry and unlock the potential for millions of dollars in revenue that are currently being left on the table.
