HUGS, a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping families with children who have life-threatening illnesses, hosted their annual “Play it Forward” Casino Night and Auction at the Savannah Convention Center. The event, which aims to raise funds to support families in need, was a huge success, with over 500 attendees and more than $100,000 raised.
Guests at the event were treated to a night of glitz and glamour, with a red carpet entrance, live music, and a variety of casino games including blackjack, poker, and roulette. Attendees were able to test their luck at the tables, with all proceeds going directly to HUGS and their mission to provide financial assistance, emotional support, and other resources to families facing medical crises.
In addition to the casino games, the event also featured a silent auction with a wide range of items up for bid. From luxury vacations to exclusive sports memorabilia, there was something for everyone to bid on. One of the most anticipated items was a private dinner with a local celebrity chef, which fetched a whopping $5,000.
Throughout the evening, guests were also able to hear from families who have been helped by HUGS, sharing their own personal stories of struggle and triumph. These emotional speeches served as a reminder of the importance of the work that HUGS does, and motivated attendees to open their hearts and wallets to support the cause.
“We are so grateful for the incredible support we received at this year’s Play it Forward event,” said HUGS founder and CEO, Sarah Johnson. “With the funds raised, we will be able to continue our mission of providing essential assistance to families in crisis, helping them to focus on what truly matters – their child’s health and well-being.”
Overall, the “Play it Forward” Casino Night and Auction was a night to remember, filled with laughter, tears, and most importantly, generosity. As the event drew to a close, attendees left with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that they had truly made a difference in the lives of families in need.
