Police in Wellsboro have arrested a woman for allegedly plotting to sneak two underage individuals into a local casino.
According to authorities, 27-year-old Emily Thompson had devised a plan to bring a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl into the casino without proper identification. The incident was brought to the attention of authorities after a concerned citizen overheard Thompson discussing her plans in a local coffee shop.
Upon further investigation, police discovered that Thompson had obtained fake IDs for the underage pair in order to gain access to the casino. She had reportedly enlisted the help of another individual to create the fake documents.
Thompson was arrested and charged with attempted unlawful conduct and conspiracy to commit a crime. She is currently being held at the Tioga County Jail awaiting a court hearing.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security measures in place at local casinos. The casino in question has since issued a statement condemning Thompson’s actions and reaffirming their commitment to enforcing age restrictions.
Authorities are urging parents to be vigilant and monitor their children’s activities to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. They also encourage anyone with information about illegal activities to come forward and report it to the appropriate authorities.
The Wellsboro Gazette reached out to Thompson for comment, but she declined to speak on the matter. Her court date has not yet been set.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following safety guidelines and regulations, particularly when it comes to underage individuals and access to adult-only establishments. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
