On Saturday evening, Lincoln University hosted its first annual Casino Night fundraiser to support the new sports programs at the historically black university in Jefferson City. The event was a massive success, drawing in a crowd of over 500 guests and raising over $50,000 for the expansion of sports programs at the school.
The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour and silent auction, where guests bid on a variety of items including sports memorabilia, vacation packages, and luxury goods. As the night progressed, attendees were treated to a buffet of gourmet food and an open bar while they enjoyed classic casino games such as blackjack, poker, and roulette.
“This event was a great opportunity for the community to come together and support Lincoln University’s new sports programs,” said event organizer and Lincoln University alumna, Sarah Turner. “It was amazing to see so many people come out and show their support for our school.”
The proceeds from the event will go towards the purchase of new athletic equipment, uniforms, and travel expenses for the university’s new sports teams, which include basketball, baseball, softball, and track and field. The expansion of sports programs at Lincoln University is part of a larger effort to increase student engagement and boost school spirit on campus.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from the community,” said Lincoln University President, Dr. Jerald Jones Woolfolk. “The success of Casino Night will have a lasting impact on our sports programs and will help us provide more opportunities for our student-athletes to excel both on and off the field.”
Overall, Casino Night was a night filled with laughter, excitement, and generosity. It brought together alumni, students, faculty, and community members in support of a common goal – to see Lincoln University’s sports programs thrive. The event was a testament to the power of community and the dedication of those who believe in the importance of sports in higher education.
