WarHorse Casino, a highly anticipated new gaming destination, officially opened its doors in Omaha on Tuesday evening with a grand opening ceremony that included the casino’s first bets being placed. The casino, located near the intersection of 72nd Street and Q Street, boasts over 2,000 slot machines and 50 table games, making it one of the largest casinos in the state.
“We are thrilled to finally welcome guests to WarHorse Casino and offer them a world-class gaming experience right here in Omaha,” said Fred Moosally, CEO of WarHorse Gaming. “We have worked tirelessly to create a truly exceptional facility that will not only attract visitors from near and far, but also generate significant economic activity and job opportunities for the local community.”
The opening of WarHorse Casino has not been without controversy, however, as gambling opponents have voiced their concerns about the potential negative impacts of expanded gaming in the area. Representatives from the Nebraska Family Alliance and other advocacy groups were on hand to express their reservations about the social and economic consequences of increased access to gambling.
“We fear that the opening of WarHorse Casino will lead to a rise in problem gambling, crime, and other social issues that can have a devastating impact on families and communities,” said Karen Bowling, CEO of the Nebraska Family Alliance. “It is important for residents to be aware of the potential risks associated with gambling and to seek help if they or a loved one are struggling with addiction.”
Despite the warnings from gambling opponents, many Omaha residents are excited about the opening of WarHorse Casino and are eager to explore the new facility. “I have been looking forward to this day for months and I can’t wait to check out all the games and amenities that WarHorse Casino has to offer,” said John Peterson, a local resident. “I think it will be a great addition to the city and will bring in a lot of visitors.”
WarHorse Casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is expected to draw in thousands of visitors each month. The casino also features several dining options, including a steakhouse, sports bar, and buffet, as well as a live entertainment venue for concerts and events.
As the excitement surrounding the opening of WarHorse Casino continues to grow, it remains to be seen how the new gaming destination will impact the Omaha community in the months and years to come.
