Atlantic City – Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa was briefly evacuated earlier today after a man claimed he had guns and an explosive device. However, after a thorough search by local law enforcement officials, nothing suspicious was found.
The incident began when a man, whose identity has not been released, made a threatening statement to a Borgata employee before fleeing the scene. The employee immediately alerted security, who then contacted the Atlantic City Police Department.
As a precautionary measure, guests and staff were evacuated from the casino floor and nearby areas while law enforcement officials conducted a sweep of the premises. Canine units were also brought in to assist in the search.
After several hours of searching, authorities announced that no guns or explosive devices had been found. The man who made the threat has since been apprehended and is currently being questioned by police.
“We take all threats to the safety and security of our guests and employees very seriously,” said a spokesperson for the Borgata. “We are grateful for the quick response and thorough investigation by law enforcement, and are relieved that nothing suspicious was found.”
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is one of Atlantic City’s premier destination resorts, offering luxury accommodations, world-class dining, and a wide range of entertainment options. The incident today marks the first time in recent memory that the hotel has been evacuated due to a security threat.
As the investigation into the incident continues, guests are being allowed to return to the casino and hotel. The Borgata has assured the public that it is safe to visit the property and enjoy all of its amenities.
“We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our guests at all times,” said the Borgata spokesperson. “We appreciate the patience and cooperation of everyone involved in today’s incident, and we look forward to welcoming guests back to the Borgata.”
