Sioux Falls Police Department are currently investigating a daring casino robbery that took place late last night in the heart of downtown Sioux Falls. The incident occurred at the popular Diamond Jim’s Casino, located on Main Street.
According to Sgt. Mike Johnson, spokesperson for the Sioux Falls Police Department, the robbery took place around 11:30 pm last night. Three masked individuals entered the casino armed with handguns and demanded cash from the employees. The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and masks to hide their identities.
Despite the terrifying ordeal, no injuries were reported during the robbery. The suspects managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash before police arrived at the scene. The employees and patrons present at the casino at the time of the robbery were left shaken but unharmed.
Sgt. Johnson stated that the Sioux Falls Police Department is actively investigating the incident and are in the process of reviewing surveillance footage from the casino and surrounding area. Additionally, detectives are interviewing witnesses and following up on any leads that may help identify the suspects.
“We are committed to finding those responsible for this brazen act of violence,” Sgt. Johnson said in a press statement. “We are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and assist us in bringing the suspects to justice.”
This is not the first time Diamond Jim’s Casino has been targeted by criminals. In 2019, the casino was the scene of a similar armed robbery that resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were later convicted and sentenced to prison.
