As local officials, tribal leaders, and community members gathered to watch the groundbreaking ceremony, there was a sense of excitement in the air. The casino, which is a joint venture between the Catawba Indian Nation and Caesars Entertainment, is expected to create over 2,600 jobs and provide a major boost to the local economy.
“This is a historic day for the Catawba Indian Nation and the city of Kings Mountain,” said Chief William Harris of the Catawba Indian Nation. “We are thrilled to be breaking ground on this project, which will not only bring much-needed jobs to the area but also provide a new entertainment option for residents and visitors alike.”
The new casino will feature a 195,000 square foot gaming facility with over 1,800 slot machines and 75 table games, as well as a 220-room hotel, multiple restaurants, and retail shops. It will be located on a 16-acre site off I-85 in Kings Mountain, just a short drive from Charlotte.
“We are excited to be partnering with the Catawba Indian Nation on this project,” said Tom Reeg, CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “This new casino will not only create jobs and boost the local economy, but it will also provide a world-class entertainment destination for the entire region.”
In addition to the economic benefits, the new casino is also expected to bring increased tourism to the area, with visitors coming from all over the region to experience the excitement and thrills of the gaming facility.
“We are confident that this new casino will be a major draw for tourists and travelers passing through the area,” said Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler. “It will put us on the map as a top destination for gaming and entertainment.”
Construction on the new casino is set to begin immediately, with a projected opening date of late 2022. As crews worked to clear the land and lay the foundation for the massive facility, excitement continued to build among onlookers and community members.
“It’s an exciting day for Kings Mountain,” said local resident Amanda Thompson. “This casino is going to bring so many opportunities for our city and the surrounding area. I can’t wait to see it all come together.”
