Kings Mountain, N.C. – Excitement filled the air as crews officially broke ground on the highly anticipated new Kings Mountain casino on Thursday. The project, a joint venture between the Catawba Indian Nation and Delaware North, is expected to bring in thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue to the area.
The new casino will be located off of Interstate 85 in Kings Mountain, just a short drive from Charlotte. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by tribal leaders, local officials, and community members who were eager to see the start of construction on the long-awaited project.
Chief Bill Harris of the Catawba Indian Nation spoke at the ceremony, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to bring economic development to the region. “This casino will not only create jobs and revenue for our tribe, but it will also benefit the entire community,” he said. Harris also noted that the casino will feature a variety of amenities, including a hotel, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
Delaware North, a global hospitality and entertainment company, will manage the day-to-day operations of the casino once it is completed. Chris Pope, president of Delaware North’s gaming division, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony, expressing his enthusiasm for the project. “We are committed to creating a world-class gaming experience for our guests in Kings Mountain,” he said.
Construction on the casino is expected to take approximately 18 months, with a grand opening scheduled for next year. Once completed, the casino is expected to create over 4,000 jobs in the area, ranging from construction to hospitality and gaming positions. Additionally, the casino is projected to bring in millions of dollars in revenue for the surrounding community through taxes and other contributions.
Local officials, such as Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler, have expressed their support for the new casino, citing its potential to boost the local economy and attract visitors to the area. “We are thrilled to see this project finally underway,” Neisler said. “The casino will bring new opportunities for our residents and businesses, and we look forward to the prosperity it will bring to Kings Mountain.”
