Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown has been keeping a close eye on Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers during training camp, as Rodgers returns to the field after serving a yearlong suspension for gambling.
Rodgers, a former sixth-round pick out of UMass, was suspended by the NFL last season after it was discovered that he had been placing bets on games. The suspension was a major setback for Rodgers, who was coming off a promising rookie season in which he had recorded 22 tackles and two interceptions.
But now, Rodgers is back on the field and looking to make a statement. And according to Brown, he’s been doing just that.
“I’ve been really impressed with Isaiah Rodgers so far,” Brown said. “He’s a scrappy player with great instincts and ball skills. He’s had some really good battles with our receivers in practice, and he’s definitely someone to keep an eye on this season.”
Brown, who is entering his third season in the NFL, is no stranger to facing tough competition on the field. And he believes that Rodgers has the talent and determination to make a successful comeback after his suspension.
“It takes a lot of mental toughness to come back from something like that,” Brown said. “But Isaiah has shown that he’s up for the challenge. He’s been putting in the work and it’s been paying off.”
Rodgers, who has been getting reps with the first-team defense during training camp, is eager to prove himself on the field this season.
“It’s been a long road back, but I’m ready to show what I can do,” Rodgers said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back out here playing the game I love, and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.”
And with Brown’s endorsement, it seems that Rodgers is on the right track to making a successful return to the field. Fans will be watching closely to see what he can accomplish in the upcoming season.
