The world of online poker just got a lot more exciting as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) has announced that they will be extending their WSOP Online Championships to include a total of 200 events, making it the largest online poker tournament series in history.
The decision to expand the tournament series comes after the success of the initial 85 events that were held earlier this year. With record-breaking participation and impressive prize pools, WSOP executives felt that there was a demand for more online poker action among players around the world.
“We were blown away by the response to our initial online championships, and we knew that we had to give the players what they wanted – more opportunities to compete and win big,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the WSOP. “By adding an additional 115 events to the schedule, we are able to cater to a wider range of players and offer even more chances to take home a coveted WSOP bracelet.”
The extended WSOP Online Championships will feature a variety of tournament formats, including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, and stud games, as well as a mix of buy-in levels to suit players of all bankrolls. In addition to the individual events, there will also be several championship series, such as the Main Event and High Roller tournaments, which will offer even larger prize pools and the chance to win a prestigious WSOP bracelet.
One of the highlights of the extended series is the inclusion of the $10,000 buy-in WSOP Online Championships Main Event, which is set to take place in December. With a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million and the opportunity to win a coveted gold bracelet, this is sure to be a must-play event for online poker enthusiasts.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer players the chance to compete for a bracelet from the comfort of their own homes,” said Stewart. “The WSOP has always been about bringing the best in poker to players all over the world, and we believe that the extended online championships will continue that tradition in a new and exciting way.”
The WSOP Online Championships will kick off in June and will run through December, with events scheduled nearly every day. Players can qualify for events through satellite tournaments on various online poker platforms, as well as through direct buy-ins on the WSOP website.
With the addition of 115 new events and the promise of even bigger prize pools, the WSOP Online Championships are shaping up to be the ultimate test of skill and strategy for online poker players. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a casual player looking to test your luck, this series is sure to offer something for everyone. So get ready to shuffle up and deal – the WSOP Online Championships are about to begin!
