In a move aimed at alleviating parking congestion and accommodating the ever-growing number of visitors to his popular South Point Hotel and Casino, owner Michael Gaughan has purchased 4.3 acres of land for $5.5 million to be used as overflow parking.
The land, located just south of the hotel and casino on Las Vegas Boulevard, was previously owned by a local developer who had plans to build a mixed-use development on the site. However, after years of sitting vacant, Gaughan swooped in and made an offer that the developer couldn’t refuse.
The acquisition of this additional parcel of land will provide much-needed relief for South Point guests who have struggled to find parking spaces during peak times. With the hotel and casino consistently at full capacity, the lack of adequate parking has been a thorn in Gaughan’s side for years. But now, with the purchase of this new property, he hopes to significantly ease the parking crunch and improve the overall guest experience.
In a statement, Gaughan expressed his excitement about the purchase, stating, “I am thrilled to have acquired this prime piece of real estate to expand our parking capabilities and provide a more convenient and stress-free experience for our guests. With the continued growth of South Point and the increasing popularity of our casino and amenities, it was essential for us to secure additional parking space to meet the demand.”
The new overflow parking lot is expected to be operational within the next few months, just in time for the busy holiday season. In addition to providing more parking spaces, Gaughan plans to enhance the lot with landscaping, lighting, and security measures to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests.
With this latest acquisition, Michael Gaughan continues to demonstrate his commitment to meeting the needs of his customers and expanding the offerings at South Point. As one of the most respected and successful casino owners in Las Vegas, Gaughan’s investment in additional parking reflects his commitment to providing a top-notch experience for all who visit his property.
