In a major crackdown on illegal online gambling activities, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has successfully busted an online gambling gang operating in Lucknow. The STF team arrested six individuals who were involved in running a sophisticated online gambling racket that had been thriving for several months.
According to the STF officials, the online gambling gang was operating through various websites and mobile applications that were used to lure unsuspecting individuals into placing bets on a variety of games, including poker, roulette, and sports betting. The gang members had set up a network of agents who would recruit new participants and handle the financial transactions associated with the illegal gambling activities.
The STF team, acting on a tip-off, conducted a series of raids in different parts of Lucknow and apprehended the key members of the online gambling gang. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rakesh Kumar, Vikas Singh, Sanjeev Sharma, Amit Gupta, Suresh Verma, and Anil Tiwari. They have been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Public Gambling Act.
During the raids, the STF team seized a large amount of cash, electronic devices, and other incriminating evidence that linked the arrested individuals to the illegal gambling operations. The authorities are now conducting further investigations to uncover the full extent of the online gambling gang’s activities and identify any additional accomplices who may have been involved.
Speaking to the media, STF Inspector General Amitabh Yash confirmed that the crackdown on illegal online gambling activities would continue in order to curb the proliferation of such illicit practices in the state. He also urged the public to be cautious and vigilant when engaging in online activities that involve monetary transactions, as there are many unscrupulous individuals who are exploiting the digital space for illegal gambling purposes.
The successful operation by the UP STF against the online gambling gang has sent a strong message to others who may be involved in similar criminal activities. The authorities have reassured the public that they are committed to maintaining law and order in the state and will take strict action against individuals or groups who flout the law for personal gain.
