Wind Creek Casino, located in Atmore, Alabama, has recently been fined $125,000 for multiple breaches of underage gambling regulations. The Alabama Racing Commission imposed the hefty fine after an investigation revealed that several minors were allowed to gamble at the casino.
The investigation was sparked by a tip from a concerned parent who witnessed their teenage child gambling at the casino. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that several other underage individuals were also participating in gambling activities.
“We take the issue of underage gambling very seriously and we have strict policies in place to prevent minors from entering our facility,” said a spokesperson for Wind Creek Casino. “We deeply regret that these incidents occurred and we are taking immediate action to address the situation.”
The fines levied against the casino were based on the number of underage individuals found to be gambling as well as the extent of their participation. In addition to the fine, the casino has also been required to implement additional measures to prevent underage gambling in the future.
“We will be increasing security measures at the entrances to verify the age of all individuals entering the casino,” said the spokesperson. “We will also be conducting regular training sessions for our staff to ensure they are aware of the regulations and the importance of enforcing them.”
The Alabama Racing Commission has warned that further breaches of the underage gambling regulations could result in more severe penalties, including the potential revocation of the casino’s operating license.
“It is imperative that we protect our young people from the dangers of gambling addiction,” said a spokesperson for the Commission. “We expect all casinos in the state to comply with the regulations and take the necessary steps to prevent underage gambling.”
Wind Creek Casino has stated that they are fully committed to upholding the regulations and ensuring that their facility remains a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons. They have apologized for the breaches and have promised to do everything in their power to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
