New Jersey’s sports betting and internet gaming industry continues to thrive, according to a recent report released by the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement for the month of April.
In April, New Jersey’s sportsbooks saw a total handle of $748 million, a slight decrease from March’s record-breaking $859.6 million. However, despite the dip in handle, the state still managed to bring in $54.8 million in revenue, an impressive figure that highlights the continued popularity of sports betting in the Garden State.
The report also revealed that mobile betting accounted for 86.7% of the total handle, further demonstrating the importance of online wagering in the state’s gambling market. In fact, online sports betting revenue totaled $52.8 million in April, a 141% increase from the same month last year.
On the internet gaming side, April proved to be another successful month for New Jersey. The state’s online casinos and poker sites generated a total gaming revenue of $107.1 million, a 32.1% increase from April 2020. This figure marks the fifth consecutive month that New Jersey’s online gaming revenue has surpassed the $100 million mark, showcasing the sustained growth of the industry.
Furthermore, the report highlighted the strong performance of individual operators in the online gaming sector. Golden Nugget Online Gaming, the state’s top online casino operator, saw a 28% increase in revenue compared to March, bringing in $31.2 million for the month of April.
New Jersey’s continued success in the sports betting and internet gaming markets can be attributed to several factors, including the state’s early adoption of online gambling and its competitive market landscape. With more states across the country legalizing sports betting and online gaming, New Jersey’s robust industry serves as a model for other states looking to capitalize on the growing trend of online gambling.
As the summer months approach and major sporting events like the NBA playoffs and the UEFA European Championship take center stage, New Jersey’s sports betting and internet gaming industry is poised for further growth and success. With record-breaking revenue figures and a strong foundation in place, the Garden State remains a leader in the rapidly expanding world of online gambling.
