Thor Equities and its partners have unveiled the scale of their proposed Coney Island casino project, which promises to bring a new level of entertainment and economic development to the iconic beachfront neighborhood.
The $4 billion plan, dubbed Coney Casino, includes a sprawling complex that will feature a 1,000-room hotel, a state-of-the-art casino spanning over 150,000 square feet, a shopping promenade, restaurants and bars, as well as a rooftop amusement park with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
“We are thrilled to announce the details of our ambitious Coney Casino project, which we believe will transform the entire waterfront area and bring a new level of excitement and vitality to the neighborhood,” said Joseph Sitt, CEO of Thor Equities. “Our team has worked tirelessly to create a world-class destination that will cater to both locals and tourists alike.”
The proposed casino will offer a wide range of gaming options, including slot machines, table games, and a poker room. In addition, the complex will feature a 5,000-seat concert venue, a luxury spa, and a convention center to host conferences and events.
Thor Equities has teamed up with leading developers and architects to bring the project to life, including Gensler, a global design firm known for its innovative and sustainable approach to architecture. The team has worked closely with community leaders and stakeholders to ensure that the project aligns with the neighborhood’s vision for growth and progress.
“We are committed to creating a project that not only meets the needs of the community but also enhances the cultural and historical significance of Coney Island,” said Sitt. “We believe that Coney Casino will become a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.”
The Coney Casino project is expected to create thousands of jobs and generate millions of dollars in revenue for the local economy. It has already garnered support from local officials, who see it as a potential game-changer for the neighborhood.
“We are excited about the economic opportunities that the Coney Casino project will bring to our community,” said Council Member Mark Treyger. “The development will not only create jobs and revenue but also revitalize the area and attract visitors from around the world.”
The project is currently in the planning and approval process, with construction expected to begin in the coming years. Once completed, Coney Casino will join other iconic landmarks in Brooklyn, cementing the borough’s reputation as a premier destination for entertainment, culture, and commerce.
