Las Vegas, NV – After 34 years of captivating audiences with its iconic volcano display and extravagant entertainment offerings, the Mirage Resort in Las Vegas is set to close its doors for good.
Owned by the MGM Resorts International, the Mirage first opened in 1989 and quickly became one of the most popular and recognizable resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Its tropical-themed atmosphere, complete with a lush indoor rainforest and a massive aquarium, set it apart from other resorts in the area.
Over the years, the Mirage became known for its lavish performances, including the renowned Cirque du Soleil show “Love” featuring music from The Beatles, as well as headlining acts from some of the biggest names in entertainment, such as Siegfried and Roy and Boyz II Men.
Despite its popularity, the Mirage has faced increasing competition from newer, more modern resorts on the Strip. As a result, MGM Resorts International made the difficult decision to close the Mirage in order to focus on its other properties in Las Vegas.
In a statement, MGM Resorts International CEO Bill Hornbuckle expressed gratitude to the employees and guests who have supported the Mirage over the years. “The Mirage has been an integral part of the Las Vegas entertainment scene for over three decades, and we are incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together,” he said.
The closure of the Mirage marks the end of an era for Las Vegas and the entertainment industry as a whole. Many longtime fans of the resort have expressed sadness over its impending closure, reminiscing about the unforgettable experiences they had while visiting.
As the final days of the Mirage approach, MGM Resorts International has promised to go out with a bang, with special events and performances planned to celebrate the resort’s legacy. Guests are encouraged to visit one last time to say goodbye to this beloved Las Vegas landmark before it officially closes its doors for good.
