In a landmark show of solidarity, poker players from across Pennsylvania descended upon the state’s capital on Wednesday to advocate for the legalization of shared liquidity in online poker. The #GrowPAPoker campaign, organized by a coalition of players, industry stakeholders, and advocates, aims to pressure state lawmakers to pass legislation that would allow Pennsylvania to join other states in a shared liquidity agreement, thus expanding the player pool and boosting revenue for operators.
The players gathered outside the Pennsylvania State Capitol, decked out in poker-themed attire and holding signs that read “Let Pennsylvania Poker Grow” and “Shared Liquidity Now.” The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and anticipation as the crowd awaited the arrival of key legislators who have the power to make their dreams a reality.
Among the players in attendance was Sarah Evans, a professional poker player from Pittsburgh who spoke passionately about the importance of shared liquidity. “We have the opportunity to create a vibrant and competitive online poker market in Pennsylvania,” Evans said. “But we need our lawmakers to act now and pass the necessary legislation to make it happen.”
The push for shared liquidity comes at a critical time for Pennsylvania’s online poker industry, which has seen lackluster growth since its launch in 2019. Proponents of shared liquidity argue that joining forces with other states, such as New Jersey and Nevada, would not only increase the player pool and generate greater revenue for operators but also create a more exciting and dynamic gaming experience for players.
“We’ve seen the success of shared liquidity in other states, and we know that it can work in Pennsylvania too,” said Jack Thompson, a recreational player from Philadelphia. “It’s time for our lawmakers to stop dragging their feet and take action to support the growth of online poker in our state.”
The players were joined by representatives from several leading online poker operators, who voiced their support for the #GrowPAPoker campaign. “We’re committed to working with players and lawmakers to make shared liquidity a reality in Pennsylvania,” said Mark Johnson, CEO of a major online poker site. “It’s time to put aside politics and prioritize the interests of players and operators who want to see online poker thrive in the Keystone State.”
As the rally came to a close, the players vowed to continue their advocacy efforts until shared liquidity becomes a reality in Pennsylvania. With the support of industry stakeholders, lawmakers, and a passionate player base, the #GrowPAPoker campaign is poised to make a lasting impact on the future of online poker in the state.
