Las Vegas, NV – Some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment came together on Thursday night at the Circa Resort & Casino for the Baller Dream Celebrity Poker Tournament, all for a good cause. The event raised over $500,000 for Cancer Warriors, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by cancer.
Among the celebrities participating in the tournament were baseball legends Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson, NHL defenseman Deryk Engelland, and MLB pitcher AJ Cole. These sports stars were joined by actors, musicians, and other personalities, all showing their support for a worthy cause.
The tournament, which was organized by former MLB player and cancer survivor Dave Righetti, was a night of friendly competition and camaraderie. Players enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while testing their poker skills against each other.
“It’s amazing to see so many people come together to support Cancer Warriors,” said Engelland. “Cancer is a disease that touches so many lives, and it’s important to show our solidarity with those who are fighting the battle.”
Maddux and Johnson, two Hall of Fame pitchers known for their competitive spirits on the field, brought that same intensity to the poker table. Both players made it deep into the tournament, showcasing their skills both on the mound and in the casino.
“It’s always great to give back and support a cause like Cancer Warriors,” said Maddux. “Events like this help raise awareness and funds for those in need, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
In the end, it was Engelland who emerged victorious, taking home the coveted trophy and bragging rights for the evening. But the real winners were the Cancer Warriors and those they support, who will benefit from the funds raised during the event.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of everyone who participated in the tournament,” said Righetti. “Their support will make a real difference in the lives of cancer warriors and their families, providing them with much-needed resources and support.”
The Baller Dream Celebrity Poker Tournament was a night to remember, bringing together athletes, entertainers, and philanthropists to make a positive impact on those affected by cancer. With over $500,000 raised, the event was a success in every sense of the word, and a testament to the power of coming together for a good cause.
