Upper Merion Police made two arrests at Valley Forge Casino Resort last night after receiving reports of suspicious activity.
According to authorities, officers were called to the casino around 10:30 p.m. following complaints from patrons about two individuals who appeared to be engaged in illegal activities. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspects as 35-year-old John Smith and 28-year-old Sarah Jones.
After an initial investigation, police discovered that Smith and Jones were in possession of several counterfeit casino chips and had been attempting to use them to play various games in the casino. Both individuals were quickly detained and taken into custody.
Authorities also found that Smith had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on charges of fraud and forgery, while Jones had a history of prior arrests for similar offenses. Both suspects are currently being held at the Upper Merion Police Department pending further investigation.
In a statement released to the press, Upper Merion Police Chief Robert Adams praised his officers for their swift response and diligent work in apprehending the suspects. He also commended the casino staff for their cooperation and assistance in helping to resolve the situation.
“We take the safety and security of our community very seriously,” Chief Adams said. “We will continue to work closely with our partners in the gaming industry to ensure that incidents like this are dealt with swiftly and effectively.”
Valley Forge Casino officials have declined to comment on the incident, but have assured patrons that the safety and well-being of their guests is their top priority.
The investigation into the two suspects is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to come forward. In the meantime, Upper Merion Police are reminding the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity they may encounter while visiting local establishments.
