Fans of the hit action role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma have been eagerly awaiting news of a sequel for years. But despite rumors and speculation, Capcom has remained tight-lipped about the highly anticipated follow-up.
In a recent interview with Capcom’s head of development, Kenji Mochizuki, he shed some light on why fans have been left waiting for so long for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Mochizuki explained that the delay in developing Dragon’s Dogma 2 was due to a combination of factors, including wanting to ensure that the game lived up to the high standards set by the original, as well as the need to prioritize other projects within the company.
“The success of the first game set a very high bar for us,” Mochizuki said. “We knew that in order to make a sequel, we needed to not only meet but exceed the expectations of our fans. This meant putting in the time and effort to develop a game that was truly exceptional.”
Mochizuki also revealed that Capcom had been focused on other major titles, such as Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise, which took up a significant amount of the company’s resources and attention.
“We wanted to make sure that we were giving our full attention to those projects before shifting gears to work on Dragon’s Dogma 2,” he said. “It’s important for us to prioritize our resources in a way that allows us to deliver the best possible experience for our players.”
Despite the delays, Mochizuki assured fans that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is still very much in the works and that the team is dedicated to delivering a game that will exceed expectations.
“We know how much our fans love the world of Dragon’s Dogma and we are committed to delivering a sequel that will do justice to the original game,” he said. “We appreciate the patience of our fans and we can’t wait to share more news about the game in the near future.”
While the wait for Dragon’s Dogma 2 may have been a long one, it’s clear that Capcom is taking the time to ensure that the game lives up to the high standards set by its predecessor. Fans can rest assured that when the game finally does arrive, it will be well worth the wait.
